Apple Store Circus Comes to Town
Attention, attention the iphone 4 is being released today if you didn’t already know. So I was on my way to work this morning and drove past just one Apple store and there was a line down the block around the corner and assuming all the way up to the next block. Believe it or not that was the case on both sides of the store. I’d call it crazy and some might agree with me but sitting in the freezing cold at 4 am to say you were one of the first just doesn’t tickle me like it used to. So now you’re thinking it might be cool to be one of them or it might be cool to be Steve Jobs and have a product in such high demand or better yet if you’re like me you’re thinking it’s pretty cool it’s almost the weekend. So as you’re reading this you might be asking yourself what is the point of this ramble? Well as it turns out it has some relevance and that is the mere fact that tech geeks around the country unite to develop applications to improve the iphone, entertain the user or whatever else. So what does this mean for the commercial real estate world? Yes, you guessed it all those plastic tickling dr’s (and not practicing medicine doctor’s) need a quiet place to geek out and develop those applications. It is amazing to me that one device and it’s a phone not to mention can create an industry of such great magnitude. So if you’re an office guy like myself I would suggest driving around Cal or Stanford and look for those open garage doors with the next Einstein’s hunched over in front of their machines.
