Green Verde Green

Green, seems to be a common theme these days. This piece was inspired by the recent lease of the former APL 5th floor at 1111 Broadway here in Oakland. Yup, you guessed it, the tenant another green tech company. I would like to take a minute to reference my post last week regarding the “Apple Circus” as I think it is relevant to this post. The reason being is that there is a parallel here that Solar Millennium started out in an incubator (Small office space) and has grown to require a full floor at Oakland’s premiere office address. Success story, yes, company to watch yes, industry to pursue, yes, yes and yes. It seems as though the green industry is just about the only sector to be adding jobs and requiring more office space. On a side note as companies retract and give up more office space it is a perfect opportunity for startups, rapidly growing companies and companies wanting to move to look at those subleases as there are plenty of deals out there to be taken advantage of. The long of the short here is that you can chase the elephant all day but the most success will be nurturing along a new born so that one day a situation like this comes of it. Happy Monday all!
