New Tenants Lease at Oakland’s City Center, Old Tenants Expand

Oakland’s City Center has added law firm Knox Ricksen LLP and property management company EMG Properties Inc. as tenants.

The law firm will move 28 people into 10,704 square feet at 1300 Clay St. from 2101 Webster St. near Oakland’s Lake Merritt. The firm’s eight-year lease begins in December. EMG Properties has already relocated from Berkeley to its new home on 555 City Center’s second floor. Its two-year lease for 3,926 square feet began Oct. 1.

Some existing tenants are taking up more space, with the law firm of Meyers Nave leasing an additional 3,009 square feet on the second floor. That 45-month lease begins Nov. 1. The firm has been in the building since 2002.

Commercial real estate firm BT Commercial has signed a lease for 1,694 square feet of additional space on the 14th floor. The five-year, 11-month lease begins Oct. 15. The company has been in the building since 2003.

The California Workers Compensation Institute has renewed its 8,436 square foot lease on the 23rd floor of 1111 Broadway for 10 years. The renewal goes into effect Sept. 1. It moved to City Center from San Francisco in 1998.

Scott Stone and Ali Seals of Aegis Realty Partners acted on behalf of Knox Ricksen; Peggy Roth of CB Richard Ellis handled the lease transaction for EMG Properties; Whiff Collins of MCC Realty Group represented Meyers Nave; Mike Raffetto of CB Richard Ellis handled the renewal for the California Workers Compensation Institute and the BT Commercial lease expansion was managed in-house. John Dolby acted on behalf of City Center’s owner, Shorenstein Realty Services, in all transactions.
